In this session, the speakers will provide information about Dubuque, Iowa’s snow and ice control program. The speakers will explain how their program has evolved to incorporate new technology into their snow and ice control operations and how they reduced their average salt usage while increasing lane miles of responsibility. The session will provide practical information on all areas of snow and ice control, including policy, anti-icing, plowing, deicing, and snow removal. Participants will be able to compare one city’s operation to their agency’s program and identify strategies that might work for them.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be better able to:
• Evaluate their agency’s operations to another city operation.
• Acquire operational information concerning snow and ice control operations.
• Determine if using liquids for pre-wetting or anti-icing, automatic vehicle locating (AVL), or other techniques currently implemented in other snow ice control operations would be right for their agency.
