A panel discussion featuring city and county administrators will explore the fundamentally important relationship between appointed government officials and public works leaders who work together to ensure communities thrive. Attendees will gain insight on successes and challenges in working alongside public works departments from the city and county manager perspective. The panelists may provide examples of successful projects, case studies, and proven strategies for effective relationship management, as well as lessons learned, common misunderstandings, and improvements. After this session, participants will be better able to:
• Assess the strength of their relationship with their city/county manager, as well as the strength of the relationship between their department and city/county administration.

• Identify strategies for building productive working relationships with city/county managers as leaders of public works departments.
