This session will provide attendees with an understanding of the importance of a statewide public works mutual aid network. It will give a brief explanation of the IPWMAN and how requested resources respond statewide at no charge to the requesting agency. We will discuss the organization’s structure and relationship with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency–Office of Homeland Security and other statewide mutual aid organizations. Also covered will be the beginning phases of successfully forming IPWMAN, and its growth over its 16 years.

After this session, participants will be better able to:
• Recognize the importance of statewide mutual aid.
• Begin forming a statewide mutual aid network in their home state.
• Conceptualize (from a 30,000 ft. view) the Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network (IPWMAN).
