The APWA-endorsed PAVER Pavement Management System is the most widely used pavement management system in the United States. The recent release of PAVER contains new features that provide agencies with enhanced methods for performing pavement maintenance and rehabilitation (M&R) planning, practical project formulation, and other improved tools that enable agencies to manage their pavements more cost-effectively. The focus of this session will be on how to use PAVER to assess the adequacy of an agency’s current funding and how to use PAVER’s analytical tools to justify funding requests—which is, unfortunately, an ongoing struggle for many public works leaders. Several case studies illustrating PAVER’s capabilities will be presented to agencies in Georgia and across the US. Attendees will learn how to use PAVER’s new suite of M&R tools for network-level planning and project formulation. Attendees will also acquire an overview of all of PAVER’s primary analysis capabilities. Lastly, attendees will learn how to easily import pavement condition data from in-house surveys or from any vendor that has collected pavement condition data for them.
At the conclusion of this session participants will be better able to:
• Explain clearly and justify pavement maintenance and rehabilitation (M&R) funding requirements for their agency using PAVER’s enhanced M&R planning tools.
• Analyze the impact of different funding scenarios on the overall condition and backlog of M&R for an agency’s pavement network.
• Build practical pavement M&R projects using PAVER’s new project formulation tool based on their agency’s actual M&R unit costs.
