For the past three years, women from around the country’s public works community have been stepping up to the plate to share their stories in an effort to offer support to others who are considering the option of occupying nontraditional roles and as an effort to illustrate the benefits to be found through the employment of diversity within the workforce. Building on the well-received WOW sessions as presented at the 2022 and 2023 North American Snow Conferences, the presenters are honored to offer an updated session to include input and feedback and to continue offering the opportunity for growth and networking among those in attendance at the conference. While limited in number, there are many women who contribute to the snow and ice community’s efforts to provide safety and mobility during inclement weather. Their efforts, journeys, trials, and tribulations provide great insight for all snowfighters seeking ways to learn, adapt, and overcome and for all agencies seeking greater insight into diversity within the workforce. Women from across the country representing various roles within winter operations will share their stories, knowledge, and wisdom as a conduit to helping others to adapt and overcome and helping agencies better understand the advantages found through employing diversity.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be better able to:

• Acquire coping skills and methods for success through the voice of experience.
• Acquire knowledge and insight into the vast network of roles that women play in winter operations.
• Establish a network of resources to mentor their career path journey.
