In October 2024, water systems had to develop an initial inventory of water service lines, and if their population was over 50,000, the inventory must be public-facing. The Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) also requires annual updates, verification of a percentage of lines each year, and tracking new, replaced, and removed lines. The City of Plano used asset management principles to develop a process for creating, maintaining, and validating the inventory. This session will help participants identify how to incorporate asset management principles into maintaining their water service line inventories and the benefits of this approach to the LCRI requirements. Accredited Agency: Plano, Texas, Department of Public Works

After this session, participants will be better able to:
– Apply asset management principles to updating and maintaining data integrity of the water service line inventory.
– Evaluate methods to improve an existing water service line inventory based on lessons learned from the City of Plano’s approach.
– Identify additional data sources and approaches to maintain the water service line inventory.
