Team Rubicon USA is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a primary mission of providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters, be they domestic or international. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals, and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible. In this session, we'll talk about how volunteers fit into domestic disaster response and how you can interact with them if you see them in the field! Key Points: TR background, history, and demographics (70% veteran) Dual Impact: Engaging in communities as an asset helps veterans toTR capabilities (incident management, spontaneous volunteer management, debris removal, etc) NIMS/ICS training and how we fit with local govt. Other voluntary organizations you'll see (VOAD partner organizations) How might TR and Public Works interact in the field.
