Ultra-Violet light Cured-In-Place Pipe (UV-CIPP) is gradually becoming the go-to alternative for rehabilitating old and degrading sewer and storm drain pipelines. As this market has grown, so has the experience of installers and the options of products available. The City of Los Angeles recently rehabilitated approximately 4,700 feet of its 74th Street 54-inch circular reinforced concrete sewer pipe. The rehabilitation was performed in two phases to better manage the installation. The pipe depths to invert ranged from 20–28 feet. Being the largest UV-CIPP installation in Los Angeles, the project presented some unique issues and considerations from the design phase through the end of construction. Despite these challenges, the project team was able to successfully deliver this project. After this session, participants will be able to:
• Identify and prepare for potential challenges when using UV-CIPP.
• Determine practical considerations when preparing to advertise a UV-CIPP project for bidding.
• Compare lessons learned during the construction phase of this project, which participants can apply to a similar project.
