Everything is bigger in Texas—and this year’s National Equipment Roadeo proves it. The 9th Annual APWA National Equipment Roadeo is expanding in a big way, with new competitions, enhanced challenges, and more action than ever before.

Hosted outdoors on Avenida De Las Americas in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center, this premier PWX event brings together public works leaders and operators for a morning of competition, learning, and camaraderie.

Competition Events

Backhoe and Mini Excavator Challenges

Operators will showcase precision and finesse using a Caterpillar backhoe and Bobcat mini excavator. Competitors face two distinct challenges, with awards for each event and an overall combined champion.

New this year: The top three men’s and women’s division winners will be recognized.

Storm Pipe Cutting

A timed test of accuracy and speed as competitors cut ADS HP Storm Pipe to exact specifications.

Mandatory PPE: gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, steel toe boots, and hard hat.

Zero Turn Mower Obstacle Course

Operators will navigate a tight, technical course using a Mean Green electric zero turn underbelly mower. A bullpen area will be available for quick familiarization before competing.

  • Proper licensing to operate equipment
  • PWX badge pickup before 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31

Registration includes:

  • Light breakfast at the Safety Briefing
  • Lunch in the Exhibit Hall
  • Monday education session access

Guests may attend with a free expo-only pass.
