Read MoreThis webinar will provide an introduction to automated vehicles (AVs), including an international context. The webinar provides an overview of relevant terminology related to AVs as well as defines and distinguishes between automated, autonomous, connected, driverless, and self-driving vehicles. The webinar also discusses the potential benefits of AVs as well as concerns, from the perspective of individual travelers, the private sector, and communities (i.e. the public sector). The webinar then discusses the relationships between AVs and transportation infrastructure, covering roadway maintenance, vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, funding infrastructure upgrades, and planning infrastructure for an AV future. The webinar concludes with a brief overview of AV pilots in Australia, Singapore, Helsinki, and San Diego.
