CPWA submitted a letter to the Canadian government on implementing an interim standard on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in biosolids. The letter stated CPWA’s consistent support for standards and practices informed by thorough research and peer-reviewed scientific studies in collaboration with public works professionals responsible for administration. Concurrently, CPWA reiterated the desire to make certain those standards are thoughtfully developed, enforced appropriately, and practices are understood and followed accordingly. The letter also highlighted considerations in terms of compliance, costs, and how such a standard would coincide with other proposed regulations.
