YMCA of Management is a collaborative approach to team-employee engagement, where leaders develop and mentor public works heroes by courageously talking to them about You, Me, City/Company, Anything. As tough and resilient as public works professionals are, leaders need to be sure to also work on their soft skills; that means t “talking to” but “talking with” a diverse and inclusive employee population from all the different generations in our current workforce. To have a comprehensive dialogue, it should include: You: the employee’s performance; Me: the supervisor’s performance; City/Company: organizational assessment; Anything: professional development and career goals. Hear from seasoned professionals who have served in key public and private roles and honed this invative approach. This session will empower public works leaders to have meaningful conversations with staff that will be enriching and refreshing so that everyone involved can reach their full potential benefiting the public works services provided to our communities. As more senior and experienced supervisors continue to retire, new supervisors are t afforded sufficient time and training due to the time constraints in today’s increasingly busy work environments. This session will synthesize the managerial training today’s public works supervisors need to lead our younger, diverse workforce successfully. We will integrate both public and private presenters for a comprehensive look at this professional development challenge.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be better able to:
• Increase their leadership skills.
• Transform motous evaluations into dynamic leadership interactions.
• Promote a positive mentorship environment for employees to feel valued.
