Everyone wants to feel needed, and we all want to be the best. But, being a Level 5 leader means being able to step away from operations and have it continue without a hitch in your absence. It is important to ensure operations meet minimum quality standards with or without you, and the main tool organizations have for this is operational manuals/plans. By providing this time slot to work on their winter operational manual/plan, attendees leave the workshop already having implemented plan updates—the same day. This workshop includes APWA-accredited Iowan cities reviewing and presenting their winter operational plans for attendees to compare, inquire about, and adjust their own manual/plan. The manuals presented have been approved by the APWA accreditation process as meeting minimal quality standards. This session will work with participants on their winter operational plan to hone written standard operating manuals/plans to increase the quality of service provided.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be better able to:
• Compare their winter operational plan/manual.
• Update/adjust their current winter operational plan/manual.
• Implement best practices into their winter operational plan/manual.
