In this presentation, you will hear from Donny Hooper, Director of Public Works for the City of Amarillo, Texas. With over 27 years of experience in public works, over 20 years of experience serving as a public information officer and media spokesperson (while serving as director), and over 29 years of moonlighting as a play-by-play sportscaster, Hooper brings a wealth of kwledge and experience in dealing with the media. He will discuss the secrets to building relationships with media partners and describe how those relationships have positively impacted public works projects, challenges, controversial matters, and more. He will share lessons learned and even some funny things that have occurred during his career. Participants will be given real tools they can use to promote their organization, projects, and employees while building better relationships with the community via the media. After this session, participants will be able to:
