In this insightful 20-minute thought leader presentation, we will delve into the growing trend of state and provincial governments requiring asset management plans (AMPs) from public agencies. Looking rth, with a particular focus on the Ontario experience in Canada, the presenters will provide a historical perspective on the regulatory landscape, emphasizing the pivotal Ontario Regulation 588/17 (O. Reg. 588/17), kwn as the Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure regulation, that has been driving the development of new policies within other jurisdictions across rth America, and across the globe. Using Ontario as an example, along with client research conducted by PSD Citywide, attendees will understand the challenges and benefits that municipalities have encountered over the past decade in the region as they embarked on this asset management journey. The presenters will provide invaluable insights into the current state of asset management planning and provide a picture of what an AMP should look like to meet the specific requirements laid out by Ontario authorities. Moreover, they’ll take a closer look at the implications for states currently adopting elements of Ontario’s policies, exploring what asset management planning might entail south of the border.
