Supervision, management, and leadership are three responsibilities that often take up much of our time and energy. Rarely do we have the opportunity to stop and think intentionally about what each one really entails and how to maximize our impact in these roles. This session will help participants define supervision, management, and leadership, identify how these functions are different and overlap, as well as when we should be acting in each role. The latter half of the session will delve into the five behavior categories successful leaders use and how these behaviors work together to maximize the impact of your leadership within an organization. Finally, the attendees will have an opportunity to discuss supervision, management, and leadership challenges they are experiencing and, based on the information presented, work through tactics and approaches to tackle those challenges. This is an interactive session that will help you think differently about your role as supervisor, manager, and leader!
At the conclusion of this session participants will be better able to:
• Explain the differences and commonalities of supervision, management, and leadership.
• Identify the behavior categories leaders use.
• Develop tactics and approaches to address common supervision, management, and leadership challenges.
