With the pool of qualified technicians shrinking every year, outside competition causes challenges when trying to hire technical staff away from dealerships, large private garages, and corporate fleets to fill our agencies’ vacancies. At San Joaquin County Public Works, our Fleet Division has developed a successful program where we hire entry-level candidates and train them to progress to become qualified technicians. By attending this presentation, you will see the benefits of developing a similar program that will promote loyalty, trust, and employee retention.
