Are you doing all you can? In some cases, the use of recycled/reclaimed materials in public construction projects has been limited due to testing requirements that were developed to evaluate only virgin materials or to DOT common practices.

This program will show local agencies how they can increase the use of these recycled materials for locally funded projects where state requirements do not apply. Learn the accepted uses for recycled materials that, while potentially in conflict with outdated state standards, are something that can be employed at your community's discretion for locally funded projects.

After viewing this program, participants will be better able to:

  • Design projects that utilize regionally available recycled materials in lieu of virgin resources.
  • Coordinate designs and specifications with local contractors and suppliers to streamline project delivery.
  • Promote materials recycling regionally to support waste reduction and new business opportunities locally.
