APWA has partnered with the Oregon Technology Transfer (T2) Center to offer two sessions.

Session 1: Pre-Trip Inspections

Operations and maintenance personnel and managers will benefit from this discussion of the pre-trip inspections required by the USDOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. You’ll be guided through a CDL-based checklist of the key vehicle locations that must be inspected prior to operation.

Session 2: What to Expect from an OSHA Inspection

OSHA or state safety inspections can occur for a variety of reasons. They can be planned or random and can occur anytime during business hours at your various public works job sites and work zones, or at your facilities. Explore what to expect during an inspection, employer rights, and how to walk managers and employees through the inspection steps and components.

Learning Objectives:

1. List the key vehicle locations that must be inspected prior to operation.

2. Identify the operational activities, equipment, and facilities that might be subject to a scheduled or random OSHA or state safety inspection.

3. Prepare your agency’s managers and employees for what to expect during an OSHA or state safety inspection.
