When was the last time you took a “look under the hood” of your organization? San Joaquin County Public Works did just that and found an underlying theme expressed by employees: “I feel disconnected from what is going on in the department.” Universally, it came down to communication and a perceived culture of “us and them” between staff and management. The presenters will share the process they went through to develop meaningful employee engagement programs that are easy to replicate, such as their PW Academy, Resource Toolkit, and other initiatives to guide agencies to a more inclusive, informed, and empowered environment. After this session, participants will be able to:
• Replicate an employee engagement program based on the presenters’ templates.
• Communicate more easily with their employees.
• Identify communication and professional development at their agency.
