Bru Monti, GIS Manager for the City of Milan, will present how the city uses geospatial intelligence to manage its rights-of-way. Milan was the first city in Italy to do a complete survey of its assets, cataloging roads, and all aboveground features. A combination of LIDAR surveys from airplanes and trucks produced a 3D model of city assets. The model is part of an advanced Geographic Business Management System Milan uses to analyze needs, design projects more effectively, streamline the review and coordination of new construction and rehabilitation projects, and improve the coordination of public events. After this session, participants will be able to:
• Describe how synching current GIS data with asset maintenance and road permits enables a Smart City Digital Twin.
• Capitalize on lessons learned when a large, culturally diverse European city implemented a system to manage complex business processes.
• Rapidly leverage techlogy to support ecomic development, responding to changing public priorities requiring complex coordination.
