The weather and the climate seem to be the lead stories each night on the news. Disasters, extremes, and climate seem to be all anyone is talking about these days. What impact will all of this have on winter maintenance and our winters? We have assembled a panel of weather experts to break down the latest news and happenings in the world of weather and its impacts on winter maintenance. From extreme weather to getting a correct forecast for next week, let’s unpack the issues facing weather forecasting and winter maintenance and see what solutions the panel can propose. You use weather data daily and make decisions about what to do next. This will be a frank discussion and truly propose solutions that will work. The discussion will also cover events that arise in the winter and spring of 2023.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be better able to:
• Describe current weather events and how the weather community handles them.
• Explain to agency stakeholders how to treat a forecast meant to build hype in the community and what they are doing to prepare sensibly for the approaching situation.
• Prepare a strategy to ensure their community is ready to handle a future event.
