Cities and public works departments face an ongoing effort to serve the public with better lighting and to reduce their carbon footprints and energy costs. LED street light installations are being tested around North America and are demonstrating their ability to improve results for both the operators of street lights and the people who use them. Speakers will explain LED technologies currently available for city/public use and present case studies on street lighting and traffic lighting pilot programs currently underway in North America.

After this program, participants will better be able to:

  • Recognize light emitting diode technologies and their applications
  • Realize energy saving potentials from alternative lighting technologies
  • Identify long term financial saving associated with LED technology
  • Recognize potential pitfalls for the process and plan how to avoid them
