The Port of San Diego is advancing zero emissions (ZE) maritime operations by adopting and implementing the Maritime Clean Air Strategy (MCAS). The MCAS, adopted in October 2021, identifies future projects and initiatives to improve public and environmental health through cleaner air while also supporting efficient and modern maritime operations. The Port’s vision of “Health Equity for All” represents the Port’s commitment to environmental justice; specifically cleaner air for everyone who lives, works, and plays on and around San Diego Bay. In addition to cleaner air and improved health, the Port recognizes that there are benefits to job creation, ambient ise reduction, ecosystem enhancement, kwledge and capacity building, education and training, and improved access to San Diego Bay. Through elaborate engineering and planning, financial business case studies, and creative funding solutions, the Port continues to advance ZE initiatives across several segments of the freight movement sector. After this session, participants will be able to:
• Identify potential types of encroachments and private uses of public rights-of-way.
• Develop a public outreach strategy to address the impacts of privately owned property on public rights-of-way because of the project.
• Plan for and implement mitigation strategies to address encroachments and uses within the public rights-of-way.
