As swfighters, we have more and more data to process during our sw operations. This discussion will center around available types of data, the complexity of available data, and what data is relevant to your winter operations. As data production is quickly increasing, many questions are raised including: what data is relevant, who is using the data, how much data is needed to provide services, and when do we have too much data? We will attempt to provide perspectives on these questions that a manager can apply to their unique operations.

At the conclusion of this session, you will be better able to

• Explain the types of data available for sw managers.
• Discuss how to process the massive amounts of data.

• Identify what data is relevant to operators vs. managers.
