This session will offer an introduction to how to run an effective fleet management program as well as a back-to-basic look at fleet management practices. Often, as fleet managers, we are asked to do many things and wear many hats. During those times, it is easy to lose focus on your core mission. If you’re new to fleet management, a department head who serves as the fleet manager in your organization, or a fleet manager of many years, this session will offer tips and methods for managing your fleet in an efficient manner. Topics will include best practices for maintenance program design, such as preventative and predictive; efficient shop operations management; supplier management; performance measurement and benchmarking; managing vehicle total cost of ownership; fleet replacement; and shop safety.
At the conclusion of this session participants will be better able to:
• Identify the field of fleet management and the role of a fleet manager.
• Acquire tips and methods to manage an efficient fleet operation.
• Recognize ways to improve the fleet department in their organization.
