Join us in this session to learn how proven European Mobility Best Practices and Techlogies can deliver significant, measurable improvements in multi-modal traffic flow, transit performance, and safety and even help mitigate climate change. Europe has been investing billions in infrastructure and techlogy, and arguably, the Dutch have created some of the world’s best infrastructure operations and management programs. Public works agencies w have the opportunity to make similar dramatic, positive impacts by deploying these proven solutions at scale, generating unprecedented value for communities—quantified in reduced travel time/congestion, transit reliability, traffic safety, reduced ise, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Cities can control multi-modal traffic flow in real-time with scenarios and rules to implement Transit First, Vision Zero, micro-mobility initiatives, truck route optimization, and emergency vehicle pre-emption. The presentation will highlight three US case studies: San Francisco—where 73+% of red-light delay for transit was achieved, speeds increased from 8.4 to 9.9 mph, enhancing predictability and reducing near misses and accidents. Dublin and Marysville, Ohio—where these solutions have been operationalized, standardized, and refined and are available to all cities with traffic signal controllers and smart city techlogies.
At the conclusion of this session participants will be better able to:
• Apply the Dutch approach to multi-faceted mobility, including 22 elements such as traffic flow, transit, safety, parking, last/first mile, congestion, ise, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
• Recognize how artificial intelligence (AI) can be engaged and deployed in your city, using Amsterdam as a model—where their efforts alone may be credited with the entire nation possibly meeting their “Paris Accord” CO2 (aka, greenhouse gas) targets “single-handedly.”
• Make quantifiable improvements in your city related to mitigating traffic congestion and reducing carbon emissions, ise, and accidents. Most importantly, learn how they are transferable between Europe and the USA/Canada.
