Having a job requires working with a plethora of people with different generational backgrounds and experiences. These differences can impact how people interact with each other and perform work, especially with how our work culture has changed within the last few years. This presentation will look at the impact of generational differences from the two different views of the Linderman ladies: Diane (baby boomer), with 40+ years of supervisory experience in both the public and private field, and Amy (millennial), who was on the APWA National Young Professionals Committee. We will explore generational differences, biases, and how to work best with individuals in your workforce. Audience participation is required!
At the conclusion of this session participants will be better able to:
• Examine the impact of generational differences in the workforce and analyze biases held within their personnel.
• Achieve commonalities through workforce collaboration and engagement.
• Recognize your own unconscious generational biases.
