In Newport, our PW team has taken an active role in the food distribution program during the pandemic. Each morning we send a team to our state’s central food distribution hub to collect and transport prepared meals from Meals on Wheels to our local distribution point for our community as well as for the two other municipalities on Aquidneck Island. Our team continues providing those essential public works services such as solid waste collection, fleet maintenance, parks and facility maintenance and the like to keep our city in a state of normalcy as best we are able for our residents.

On a lighter note, as Public Works professionals MAKE THINGS HAPPEN, our team brought the Easter Bunny to the children throughout our city when all of our usual Easter programs had to be cancelled. The Easter Bunny hopped into the back of our truck and was able to see the kids and bring a few smiles to families which was much appreciated by our community.

As we all know so well, we need to adapt the ways we do our business in times like these and we wish all of our fellow PW teams throughout the country much success in doing so.
