Succession planning is not just an activity, but a mindset. From a birds-eye view, it is staff due diligence to try and ensure that the level of service being provided today can be sustained for tomorrow. At the ground level, succession planning is about documenting all the thought and decision-making processes of today’s professionals, so they can be replicated or improved upon by a new workforce. The County of Middlesex used a web-based solution originally designed to create their snow plan, but it ended up also being a tool for a sustainable succession planning strategy.
