Final Stretch of the House

On Monday, May 29th, the House returned to sit for four consecutive weeks before the summer break. There are two bills, Bill C-9 (An Act to amend the Judges Act ) and Bill C-22 (Canada Disability Benefit Act) currently at consideration in the House of Commons after amendments by the Senate. Since it is at the last major stage, we may see the Cabinet setting a date for Royal Assent. Another major Bill S-5 (Strengthening Environmental Protection for a Healthier Canada Act) has also been passed at both chambers and may also see the Cabinet setting a date for it to become a law. The last date scheduled for the House of Commons to sit is Friday, June 23, but it usually rises a couple of days earlier.
